Love Your Enemies But Not All of Them
Matthew 5:44 – But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Do not love all your enemies but do not try to make more of them.
We have enemies for sure. Although, we can not love all of our enemies. Why is that? Are we suppose to hate our enemies? No, but with some enemies we have to keep our distance. Well, we never teach our children to talk to strangers and go home with them. They are strangers. They should be treated differently as strangers but of course not unfairly. We have to equally respect them but not treat them as someone we knew since childhood.
Love your enemies but certainly not all of them
Jesus is not teaching us to love everyone but to be wise in all aspects of relationships. He simply did say love your enemies but technically He did not say that we should love ALL of our enemies. He himself did not love all. He loved everyone who followed Him and obeyed His commandments. He also had cursed and rebuked evildoers and hypocrites as well.
Matthew 12:50 – For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Matthew 11:24 – But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
We are in a spiritual warfare against the children of disobedience, rulers of darkness in high places, wicked persons and as such. Keep our distance from them. Since we are the obedient children of our Lord Jesus Christ. Aren’t we not? We need to stay away from their deceptions and evil works. They are obviously against the works of righteousness and the will of our Lord God. They are enemies. We are not friends with them though they may be friendly appearing like a sheep with wools as white as the clouds. However, their true forms are ravening wolves ready to devour you anytime. They are just waiting for the right time and opportunity. Beware, do not love all your enemies.
1 Corinthians 5:13 – But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
2 John 1:7 – For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
2 John 1:10 – If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
We have no enemies, when…
When it comes to life and death situations, we have no enemies. Everyone is our friend who is in need. We neither treat them as strangers nor unrelated persons but they should all be our brothers and sisters to us. Under no circumstances, we should never not help them if we have the chance. We need to learn to sympathize and be compassionate to everyone who is gravely in danger and needs serious assistance. That is how the Lord wanted us to be. We should be compassionate to everyone in times of urgency and necessity regardless, no excuse.
Our real life enemies are not strangers
Most of the time, enemies do hate you for a reason. They will not hate you just because. They hate you and you hate them because you knew each other. They are once close to you. They might be your closest friend, aunt or even an ex wife for 20 long years. You just had a falling apart and became bitter to each other.
Luke 10:27 – And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Sadly, our worst enemies are the ones closest to our hearts and people we loved so much. They knew what are our darkest secrets and our weaknesses included. They can hurt us pretty bad and we can injure them in their souls. We should not develop our hatreds to them. But try our very best to fix our relationships. It is time to forgive and forget the flaws. There will always be heaviness in our hearts. It is really hard to get by without learning to forgive. Let love rule us and take over of our minds and soul for us to live freely and pleasantly. Let the love of God be the center of our lives. Do not love all your enemies but love almost all of them.
